FAQ

Why should I buy my meat from a local farmer vs the grocery store?

Much of the meat sold at grocery stores come from CAFOs which cause a lot of harm to both the animals and the environment. Our cows are raised in open pastures, receive lots of love and attention, and live in a stress free environment.  By buying from a local farmer you are supporting your local economy and a small family business. You get a direct connection to the meat you are consuming and the family who is raising it.

How and where are your animals raised?

Our cows spend the summer at our beautiful 2400 acre ranch in Whitmore California. They live in a stress free environment spending the days eating in lush green meadows. Once the weather starts to change they head down to Elk Creek California where they will be out of the cold and snow in beautiful rolling hills.

How are your animals processed?

When its time for processing I take them to a local USDA butcher. The animals are treated well and we strive to keep it a low stress environment.

Can I visit the farm?

As of this time we do not have farm visits. Running a farm is a busy operation. We enjoy company but it's important to get the work done.

What can I expect when buying a whole animal?

You are buying anywhere from 50-800 pounds of meat so please plan accordingly! A half steer purchase will come in 4-5 large boxes that each weigh around 50-75 pounds. You'll be picking up your product and will need a large enough vehicle to transport to your home, and don't forget about refrigeration needs!

A butcher cut sheet will be provided to you so that you can select your cuts.

How can I place my deposit for purchasing a whole animal?

You'll need to create an account with Eat From Farms on our website. After you create an account you'll be able to reserve your animal with a deposit. The deposit will be applied to the final weight of your animal. You'll pay the full balance for your whole/half animal before picking up the product.  We accept credit card or the balance from your account. Please reach out if you would like to use a different payment option.

How do I pick up my order?

Bosalita Livestock will set a meeting site with the buyer. Deliveries can be available in Palo Cedro, Redding, Cottonwood, Red Bluff and occasionally Willows, CA. Bosalita Livestock can be flexible with notice. If one of these destinations does not work for the buyer we can try to make something happen to ensure customer satisfaction.
